a little background...

Spring's short-lived blossoms, cascading water, dancing jellyfish, spray thrown up by the sea…

Inspired by fleeting moments of beauty that constantly change or are barely there,  Michelle 's aim is to capture these glimpses in glass and delicate silk almost as fragile and ethereal as the moments themselves, yet a lasting reminder of ephemeral beauty.

Graduating with a BA in Surface Design (pattern design for textiles, wallpaper, ceramics, etc) from University of the Arts, London in 2006, Michelle subsequently became a licentiate member of the Society of Designer Craftsmen, exhibiting with them on a number of occasions. Recently the British European Design Group invited her to join their contingent exhibiting at the International Contemporary Furniture Fair in New York in May 2009, with funding from UK Trade and Investment.  For more information on where to see Michelle's work, please visit the Exhibitions & News page.

During the final year of her degree, Michelle discovered a love of working with glass and has continued to develop this in parallel with surface design, including techniques such as kiln-forming, lamp-working and sandblasting.

In 2008, Michelle undertook a large commission for Carole Caplin at the new Lifesmart private members health club in central London, launched in March 2009.  This exciting project involved designing images for a glass room divider, large window and eight shower doors (see Commissions page for photos).

Prior to completing her degree, Michelle worked at the Royal College of Music for a number of years in the composers and recording studio.  During this time, she also gigged at various venues around London as a jazz singer, recording two independent CDs.
